Section B: Community Interest Statement – Activities and Related Benefit

Activities	How will the activity benefit the community?
Generally: Placemaking Bristol CIC will use a holistic, place making approach to support local areas and communities and areas that will benefit from area wide regeneration.  It will work on an area-by-area basis, when invited in by communities.Specifically, it will:	Placemaking is a hands on approach that takes into account the needs of local businesses, residents, and other people using the public realm and facilities in communities.  The CIC will work alongside all groups, bring them together, identify common concerns and develop plans to enable the development of sustainable communities.  It will roll out a model that can be used in all communities in the Bristol Metropolitan area.
Support local businesses	The CIC will identify mechanisms for enabling local business owners to survive in a competitive marketplace.  This will create employment opportunities for local people. It will create active high streets, and greater use of the public realm.  The active engagement of businesses is a key factor that leads to sustainable communities.
Regenerate property & land	Placemaking Bristol C.I.C. will work with local partners to put an end to the dereliction that blights many communities.  It will offer suggestions and solutions that will support efforts to improve the public realm.  These improvements increase the sense of community safety and contribute to the development of sustainable communities.
Improve the public realm	Placemaking Bristol C.I.C.’s activities will result in improvements to the public realm.  In addition to increasing the sense of community safety, public realm projects build both social and economic capital in communities, and embeds solutions in sustainable communities.
Capacity Build community based organisations in each area	Placemaking Bristol C.I.C. will support community based organisations to play a full and active role in the regeneration of their communities, and will thus enable active citizenship and a greater degree of local ownership of placemaking projects and initiatives.
Foster a sense of pride in the local area	Through the activities outlined above, and the development of additional specific local projects, Placemaking Bristol C.I.C. will enable local businesses and residents to enjoy a greater sense of pride in their local area, its heritage and all it has to offer.
